CAD!

CAD! is a free microgame for 3–6 players with hidden roles, requiring just a standard 52-card deck, a few tokens, and one PNG file.

Mechanically, it’s table-talk-heavy: roles with differing objectives, six simultaneous card reveals, a closed token economy, Knizia-like scoring, and unrestricted bluffing and deal-making.

Players secretly become Loners, Normies, or Cads, each pursuing a different target while pushing tokens around the table and trying not to reveal too much about what they actually want, so they can qualify for the final scoring twist.

This is a free .png game: a complete tabletop game distributed primarily as a pair of shareable image files. The rules card is the actual game. Save it to your phone, send it to a group chat, print it, or use the optional cover as the reverse side of a poker-size card.

Over six quick rounds of super-consequential simultaneous card play, players compete for control of a tiny closed token economy. Winning cards allow players to move tokens between players, gradually reshaping the social landscape in pursuit of their hidden role’s target.

Success depends as much on persuasion and misdirection as on the cards themselves. Table talk is unrestricted; nothing is binding. But spend too much social capital and you won’t be able to win in the final wash-up!

Players

3–6

Components

• Standard 52-card deck
• One token per player (coins, peanuts, coasters, anything)

Table Talk

The discussion is part of the game.

Say whatever you like. Believe whatever you like.

Setup

• Give each player 1 token.
• Deal 7 cards to each player.
• Each player draws 1 secret role card.

Secret Roles

A–4 — LONER (target: 0 tokens)

5–9 — NORMIE (target: 1 token)

10–K — CAD (target: 2 tokens)

Play (6 Turns)

• Choose 1 card.
• Reveal simultaneously.
• Highest card wins.
• Ties: ♠ > ♦ > ♣ > ♥
• Winner moves 1 token from any player to any player.
• Discard played cards.

Score

Reveal secret roles.

Players qualify by matching their role’s token target.

If one or more players qualify, highest remaining card wins.

If nobody qualifies, highest remaining card wins.

Break ties with suit order as above.

Card Values

A = 1

J = 11

Q = 12

K = 13

All other cards score face value.
